Begin with the basic shape of the head. A circle for the top portion. Slightly slanted lines for the jawline / side of face. And a triangular shape for the chin. These can be altered for the type of face you are drawing.

Next we add in the proportion lines. The middle line is for the eyes. The upper line is for the hairline. The lower line will be where the bottom of the nose is. Also erase the rough lines from the shapes drawn in step one.

Now we are roughly drawing in our features. A hairline ending around the line for the eyes, eyes, nose and mouth. This is perhaps the most important step as one of the most common mistakes in drawing a face is to draw the features in incorrect proportions.

In this step we are further defining our features. Also add ears between the middle and lower proportion lines.

The outline of the hair is completed in this step by drawing a rough outlind and erasing the circular line from step one. The sketch of the features are also completed in this step.

Here, we have completed our face. This step is all about shading and texturizing.
